The ken Whalen surf challenge is fun because: I get to surf in a heat with all of my friends and get a trophy regardless of how I place. I tend to feel like a bad surfer in other contests because I don’t do as well as the other girls or consistently make the finals. I always come away from this contest feeling great about my abilities as a surfer. If any contest has the aloha spirit, it’s this one.
I love getting to see all the different kids shredding. Its so cool that it’s completely geared towards kids. It just makes it so much fun. It’s like a huge party. I also love that it supports the Challenged Athletes Foundation. They are a huge part of why I am able to be so involved in surfing.
